Choose the NWAC avalanche zone where you want to tour. The app covers all 10 zones from Mt. Baker to Mt. Hood. This determines which tours and forecasts you'll see.
Check the Avalanche Forecast (from NWAC), Weather (from NWS), and Snow Report (from Synoptic weather stations). These update automatically for your selected zone and date.
Use the sliders to tell the app about yourself: Energy Level (how much vert you want today), Downhill Skiing (ability to ski steep/variable terrain), and Touring Skill (skinning, route-finding, avalanche awareness). This helps match you with appropriate tours.
Tours are sorted by how well they match you and today's conditions. Each card shows:
Click 🗺️ View Map to search CalTopo for route information, or Directions 🗺️ for Google Maps driving directions to the trailhead. Use the date picker to plan up to 7 days ahead.
After your tour, click 📝 Log Tour to record conditions using the AIARE debrief framework. Track avalanche danger, snow conditions, signs of instability, and lessons learned. Sign in to sync your tour logs across devices.
⚠️ Important Safety Note
This app is a planning aid, not a substitute for avalanche education, proper equipment, and sound decision-making. Always check the official NWAC forecast, carry rescue gear, and travel with experienced partners.
